Another birthday celebration on the Sheen ranch means another day of rain. So it seems to be almost every time I plan this. I'm sure many of you can recall time and time again when Tommy's birthday occurs in the middle of July, after days and often weeks of dry sun, I decide to take advantage of a Summer gathering to barbeque, only to be barbequeing in the rain. Sure it comes and it goes, and often times clears nicely to release a beautiful evening. Nonetheless, I say barbeque, and God says rain. Why should today be any different. Notwithstanding the saying is "April showers...." Katie and I were going over what to have today for Jim's birthday party. Pizza, in my opinion, is way too overused, though always seems acceptable for kids. Subs were fairly recently done at Terry's and at Mick's houses, although they were also tasty. However, again in my opinion, one can never have too much barbeque. Ergo, I cleaned out the ashes from my barbeque, made sure I was stocked in charcoal and lighter fluid, had enough variations of meat, sorry no chicken today, and away I go...and guess what is on the weather agenda for today...RAIN...T-Storms...Scattered Showers. Therefore, I have decided to forgo a doorwall, and maybe even put off the deck. All I have to do is discover a way to build a safe barbeque shelter. Terry and I have done this in the driveway, plastered against my house for shelter. I have backed the que into the garage for partial cover. I have even bbq'd with an umbrella. Call me a crazy diehard, but I've even bbq'd in snowstorms.
MORAL: There is no sunny weather, when Rico says, "BARBEQUE!!!"
