Luke at the Tune Up Triathlon Yesterday - Second race of the season!

Yeah buddy...
Getting ready for the swim

All smiles on the bike. Mom running beside him.

He was the first kid across the finish line (some of the older kids started after him). He was so proud to hear the announcer calling out his name. Big smiles :-)

Luke at the Foothills Feat Triathlon!

Here he is after setting up his transition area.

I was going to help him, but he right away knew exactly where he wanted everything and was pretty particular about it. Guess those transition practices with the Kid's That Tri team has made an impression! They also helped his transitions - man, the kid was in and out in no time. The only thing I helped with was to hang his bike up on the rack (it's high up, and a bit heavy for him).

His swim was awesome. Right into the water, nice freestyle stroke, good breaths to the side. I was like - 'wow'! His swim instructor, Stephanie was so proud (she was helping run the swim segment).

He hauled out on the bike - knew exactly where to mount properly (unlike last year when he was trying to ride the bike out of transition - oops!

And you should see this kid run! Holy cow. He came hauling up the hill towards the finish area. They then had to do a lap around the track. I ran with him on the inside grass and my best guess was he was running between 7:15 and 7:40 (max) / mile.

He was 25th (out of like 60) 6-8 year olds overall, but 2nd in his 6 year old age group!

After he finished he went to the finishing chute to cheer others on and then spent about 20 minutes handing out water and medals at the finish. No prodding from mom or dad. Great attitude throughout the looong day (Paige and I were volunteering and he was out of bed and out the door with me at 5am). Just an angel and what great sportsmanship. Couldn't be more proud!!
