and TODAY it is APRIL

Well, I told you all that March 1st was the end of winter and everyone scoffed at me. All the dire warnings of March snowstorms and cold weather. Well, it has been a glorious March and a Marvelous April is about to begin. Global warning? Yeah.... bring it on. Better than an ice age. Going up to 76 today and 80 degrees tomorrow. I think I can now put away the snow blower. (If you are looking at the date and wondering if I am losing it, I am just editing yesterday's blog.)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BILLY!

As we gaze into the crystal ball, an image appears. Why, its Billy, celebrating his 8th birthday. Happy BIrthday, Bill. Too bad we didn't look around the room and see what you were getting for presents.

Facebook

This has got to be one of the most screwed up sites on the internet.... On Mom's Facebook page, it says she  has 57 friends under her Profile.... when she clicks Home, it tells her she has 2 friends, none of whom she actually knows... and she does not get all of the news from her other 57 friends. Maybe I will just tell her to Twitter.

LIFE!!!! DON'T MISS OUT ON IT!!!

And by LIFE, I mean "Life", the new series that just started on the Discovery Channel this past Sunday. It's by the same people who brought us the "Planet Earth" series (and if you never saw THAT series, do yourself a favor and go get the DVD right now!)and it is amazing, stupendous, entertaining, educational, breathtaking... I just can't say enough about what a great program this is so far (2 episodes in, both which aired on Sunday to kick off the series). The whole segment on the short-horned chameleon shown here was unreal...we were laughing and oohing and ah'ing...and wondering more than once "how on EARTH did they get that shot???"

Trust me. Watch it. Sundays at 8pm & 9pm (2 different episodes) on Discovery Channel. And if you have Discovery HD, even better!!!!

White O'Morn

Top o' the mornin' to ye.... Hope this finds everybody in good spirits and over their Irish spirits of last night. Alas, I din't stop at the pub for a quaff of porter or stout, but I did manage to get a beginnin' on an old Irish favorite. Accompanied by a brew, nonetheless, and the late in coming company of my Black Irish lass, we reclined to take in a bit of the ever favorite classic, "The Quiet Man." Maybe it helps that I'm a romantic, and love John Wayne and Maureen O'Hara, but who can't be entertained by such a lovely, colorful movie like that, filled with colorful characters itself. Katie had to go back to work around 6, but she was first in her presentation, and the follow-up questions were nil, so she was home with her brood by 8:15. That means after all the saying goodnights, and singing songs and such, I had her to meself by 9 or so. Of course, she was sleeping in me arms by 9:30, so I turned off the movie so she could sleep, and took the Princess out for little jaunt. Despite the day it was I didn't see any green, or orange flags flying; orange being the true color of Irish celebration in Ireland. However, with a cool but pleasant evening under Orion and Ursa Major, a mile and a half later, I was home in bed just after 10. All slept fairly well, and hoping you all had a possibly different, but no less enjoyable evening. Godspeed, and may the road rise up to meet you.

THE LUCK OF THE IRISH TO YE (even tho you are Polish)

Happy St. Paddy's Day to all! I accidentally wore the only green work-suitable top I own yesterday, so my friend Brilly gifted me with these glasses so I have something to wear today. This picture was taken yesterday. But I will be wearing the glasses today.

And Brendan surprised me last night by coming home with the fixings for corned-beef-and-cabbage, which is, as you will remember, my most FAVORITE meal, and I haven't had it in AGES. I told him to wait for this weekend ot make it since I try to eat more restrictively during the week. Can't wait! We are also going to see the Tigers in a spring training game this Saturday, and the weather should be awesome for that. Good times.

p.s. Is "restrictively" even a word?

MARCH MADNESS BEGINS...

I could just never figure it out why Terry goes all the way to Las Vegas just to watch something from Alice in Wonderland. Goofey!
Oh well, it probably better than watching something really dumb like basketball games all day.

Toes in the water...butt in the sand...

(I paraphrased the song title in case younger eyes see this post)

Brendan and I are heading to my favorite coast, the Gulf coast, today after work to attend a wedding of a friend of his tomorrow. Raining like crazy here the last two days but it's supposed to be nice and sunny for the weekend. Although I don't think it'll be warm enough for me to go into full lay-out mode, I'm sure we will be on the beach and soaking up some rays in some fashion.

The wedding is on Anna Maria Island, just outside of Bradenton. Never been there but it's not far from our favorite Gulf getaway, Pass-a-Grille. I am hoping there is a tropical drink in my near future.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, CORBIN

My eldest grandchild is now 19 years old. Kevin must be feeling old about now. Time marches on.

Good looking like all the Sheen Clan.

IT IS SPRINGTIME!

Never mind what anybody else says, It is spring!. I have always considered March to be sufficient change in the calendar to change the seasons, too. The sun is shining and they are talking about 40 degree weather.. what further proof do you need. And if it does snow, just remember that it is not REAL snow out there now... it is the new, pseudosnow and will dissappear at the blink of an eye....
So nice to have seen Kirsten for her visit but sad to see her returning to Florida. When is the next visit?
And speaking of spring and sunshine.... WHERE'S ADDY? Come out, come out, where ever you are...
