And Then There Were None

It is official. The last of my babies is making the transition to a big boy bed. As you may be able to make out in this video, James has learned how to crawl out of his crib. Yes, he is the latest to do so, of mine, but he is also the quietest and smoothest in accomplishing the fete. The problem now comes when he wakes up in the middle of the night and wants us, he can get us. There is no more letting him cry it out unless we latch the door...hmmmm. So, after a few days of him waking up and coming to get us, we figured, "what the hell", it's time for his bed. We will leave his crib up just in case he has a bit of separation anxiety, but I don't see that. In fact, when we put his bed up, and he was standing in the crib, we asked him whose bed it was, and he pointed to himself. I said, "...but you have a crib, who will sleep here?" He pointed to himself once more, grunted and immediately climbed into his bed. I'm sure we will be cribless within the week. sniff sniff...but only for a moment. Now, if we can get him talking and out of diapers, we'll really be happening.

  1. I think a small amount of livestock voltage tape across the top of the crib rail would thwart this behavior.

Or a story about the 'monsters that live on the floor at night - with a cheap motion activated sound effect (chewing, growling, etc.) would keep him in place for a few more months.
