Happy Easter to Sheens Everywhere (except Charlie)!!
Just wanted to wish a Happy Easter to my beloved family; wish we could all be together for the Big Meal and giving thanks (wait...wrong holiday) but know that I am thinking of all of you today (as I do every day).
I got a little ham and asked Brendan to make it for us...this morning he asked if I wanted eggs for breakfast and I said "well yes, but I want them with the ham and the scalloped potatoes" (for some reason, scalloped potatoes have become a "thing" for me at Easter with the ham and eggs...no idea why, but they're yummy). He said "you want the ham and potatoes for breakfast with the eggs?" I replied "yes, that is what Easter breakfast is for me." When he started to argue that this might be "odd", I pointed out he is Jewish so he isn't allowed to judge my Easter traditions. That settled that pretty quickly.
So the little ham is now in the oven and I am enjoying my McDonald's iced coffee, which I had given up for Lent. Will look forward to stopping at Starbucks this week too (something else I gave up for Lent). Assuming Meems has been drunk out of her mind since yesterday afternoon, her official ending of Lent?
Love you all!!!

Happy, happy Easter! Luke did his first Easter Egg hunt out in the backyard this morning. He thought that was quite the fun time. Then we went for a long walk around the lake. Now just back home, enjoying the morning.
ReplyDeleteWe made some egg beaters / mushrooms / spinach with ham (frozen since Christmas). No scalloped potatoes though.
And of course Starbucks - which we didn't give up for lent, but hadn't had since yesterday morning - so it was a nice treat :-)
So glad you guys had a wonderful Easter morning. I was going to venture out for the Easter Vigil mass last night, but thought my wife and family needed me more at the time. Therefore, we had our little egg hunt this morning, then got dressed and set out for 8:30 mass. It was packed with the twice a year Catholics, and us regulars...SRO(for St. Gertrude's that isn't bad) From there we went to mom and dad's where we were met by the A-Team, and Uncle Stan and Phoofie. Pleasant conversation and Addison holding was enjoyed, and I think I only heard one or two curse words; which, considering the company, wasn't bad at all.
ReplyDeleteJimmy is napping now and Katie is walking the dog. I have the meal ready to go to the inlaws(Summer BBQ theme), and that will conclude the day. Did anyone catch The Ten Commandments last night? We watched it briefly, but considering I have it on DVD, I didn't stay up past 11:30, but that was mainly for kidlet preparation for the morning...if you know what I mean. Love, Blessings and Easter Joy to all.
Fred - saw that "Ten Commandements" was on and I was all for it, but Brendan could not see investing in a nearly-5-hour movie, especially one he really wasn't interested in. Ah well, another time (on DVD, most likely). I also don't recall seeng an airing of EASTER BEAGLE, CHARLIE BROWN. Altho definitely the lesser of the the Peanuts specials, still worth it to see Snoopy dancing with the six bunny wunnies.
ReplyDeleteKevin - pictures of Luke's Easter egg hunt??
