So much for Groundhogs and New Years and Christmas and Thanksgiving and .... well you all get the idea. And next comes Ash Wednesday and Lent and to be perfectly honest about it, I am looking forward to any excuse to get back on some sort of diet and right eating. Thankfully, I am not that far off my ideal mark, nevertheless.... and if we do it right, we can all enjoy Easter without fear.
Chatting with Kirsten, I recalled for some reason the old children's game of chanting the progress of the black plague...
"Ring around the Rosie...
A pocket full of posies...
Ashes, ashes, we all fall down."
Kids!
Speaking of the black plague, did you know, that one of the main contributing factors to the plague was the high instances of 'cat burning'....that's right...at the time cats were considered to be a representation of the pagon religions so many people were into killing cats at that time, with the low number of cats the rats were able to multiply at an alarming rate carrying the black death...believe it, or not!
ReplyDeletetwo comments here, Snopes says that link of the rhyme to the Black Plague is bogus because it the rhyme didn't surface til too many years later...I say Snopes surfaced even later and should hold itself in check.
ReplyDeleteSecondly, as for Adam's comment, I am not surprised people are not that smart. They do seem to cut off their noses to spite their faces way too often. So, recycle, go green, as much as you can afford, and don't burn the cats...just enjoy the road kill God and GM provide.
I always liked the saying, "...room to swing a cat." I used to enjoy watching Kim's expression when someone used it. Ha, ha, ha.
