Yesterday I thought I was getting sick. Just felt hazed and out of it. It didn't occur to me to think about the fact that it's been warm and windy like crazy lately. Or that at the end of my long run on Sunday up Waterton Canyon I was covered in dust.
Then last night I kept waking up. My eyes would be itchy, nose stuffed up and coughing. It would settle down and I'd fall back asleep - only to wake up about 20mins later with the same thing.
At about 4am I put it together that it coincided with the furnace (forced air) kicking on and the duct right by my bedside giving me a new dose of whatever has settled into our air ducts. We run high allergy filters, but the windy weather probably blew a bunch of stuff all over the house from outside and it hasn't gotten filtered out yet.
I'm mildly allergic to a bunch of things (including some foods) - but grass, cottonwood trees and ragweed can absolutely put me in a catatonic state in a matter of minutes.
Thank goodness for Sudafed. I feel much better today.

Yeah, we are suffering big-time in Florida. But I think my body is finally just learning to deal with it, not as bad as other times.
ReplyDeleteJust out of curiosity - what foods are you allergic to?
Well, that explains my runny nose and the feeling that I could sometimes just scratch my eyes out. Sigh.
ReplyDeleteAnd how we LOVE to be outside, too.
