After many delays and postponements, and even a rerouting or two of air traffic, the day is finally here! Jim is no longer using anything but underwear, under his pants/shorts. It was going to be when he was three, then when brothers got out of school last year, then when Mommy stayed home from work during the Summer, then when brothers went back to school.... To make a really long story short, after Jimmy's 4 year well visit to the doctor, I told Jimmy I was not buying anymore diapers and he'd have to stop using them. All well and good until that last diaper was used. A two hour tantrum in a really big night time diaper last Monday led to a compromise. We had some pull-ups left over from somebody, and I told him he could wear them as long as he still used the toilet whenever he had to go. However, if he peed in the pull-up on purpose, he lost that priveledge. He had one or two minor accidents in the pull-up, but for the most part did awesome. Well, today the transition was made to underwear. We do have a couple of pull-ups left, but it was time. This tantrum only lasted 5 mins or so, and after 15 mins, he was ready for me to help him get dressed. He is very proud, and asked for all of his brothers to come and see him in his underwear before he put clothes on over them. In the van he told Eddie that now, he was just like him.
Yes, I know your kids were trained by 2yrs, Terry, but then again it didn't rain on May 16th the last time it fell on a Monday, either! C'est la vie! I'm done spending $30-$40 a case for that...onto driver's ed...in a few years.
