Georgetown 1/2 Marathon

So I ran the Georgetown 1/2 Marathon (13.1 miles) this past Saturday. It was a really great course and a big race field - nearly 2500 finishers!

The weather was perfect and I felt really good. The scenery made it easy to get distracted - although I kept to my goal of trying to run a sub 1:30 (which I missed by 70 seconds - ran a 1:31:09. But, I ran a strong race and can't think of anywhere I could have dragged those 70 extra seconds off the course with me. But I think I can do it next time - and especially if I ran a flat sea level 1/2.

This course is downhill - like a - 1% grade overall - but there are some little bugger uphills that get you. I was really happy with my downhill turn-over and felt nice and quiet on the downhills. And my pace was spot on as I finished strong and was reeling folks in that probably went out at more of a 10K pace after the 8 mile mark.

Next race is the Denver Rock 'N Roll Marathon on October 17th! My hope is to run a sub 3:10 - we'll see.

Here are my stats for this 1/2:
I was 10th out of 135 in my division (45-49)
85th out of 1109 for all men
107th out of 2499 total finishers

  1. Great Job, Kev. I just got back from a two plus mile jog, for the first time since I got the dog. She has been occupying my free time with her walks and pulls at the leash when we try to go faster. However, last couple of days she has been limping, favoring her right leg, and until I can get her to my vet, tomorrow, they suggested we postpone the walks. Therefore, I was feeling a bit unexercised, not like Reagan(unexorcised)he he...so I just ventured out easily. I had my old time of nine minute miles, but the only sub run I want to make is a Subway BMT...LOL! But really, congratulations and good luck "Rockin' and Rollin'" in CO.
