Weekend Project

I've been meaning to build an old style, wooden coffin as part of our Halloween decorations for several years now. Season just always ran out before I could find some time to do it.

Well, this weekend - I finally built it and you can see the finished product below.

It's about 5' tall and it will break down flat for storage. We've got a skeleton with some chains and a strobe light that lights it up from inside. The top hinges up with some old rustic hinges (right now just held open by a wooden stake :-)

Took a few hours to build it, but it's a good way to spend my downtime. And I love Halloween.

Will try to post a picture of the whole front yard-scape when it's light out.

  1. That is EXCELLENT! I was SO excited to decorate our house, since this is the first house I've been able to decorate for Halloween...we never decorated at the condo. I swear, I could have spent hundreds of dollars on Halloween stuff but had to curb myself and will just add more every year to build on it. We didn't have any outdoor outlets so I had our contractor put in a bunch of outdoor outlets, specifically for the purpose of decorating! Looks pretty good for a First Time! And I'm told by our neighbors that we get lots of trick-or-treaters - can't wait!!!

  2. Nice! Yeah - you have to build it out over time. I usually add one or two things per season. The coffin cost about $70 in materials.

Sadly, we don't get a lot of trick or treaters, so we'll probably head to a friend's house to trick or treat. Leave candy on the porch. I miss though having the doorbell ring. It's my favorite holiday.

    You need to send pictures!
