Meems was right...

Come on, Wings!!! We know you can do this!!!! You just gotta think like Quint!!

"Y'all know me. Know how I earn a livin'. I'll catch this bird for you, but it ain't gonna be easy. Bad fish. Not like going down the pond chasin' bluegills and tommycods. This shark, swallow you whole. Little shakin', little tenderizin', an' down you go. And we gotta do it quick, that'll bring back your tourists, put all your businesses on a payin' basis. But it's not gonna be pleasant. I value my neck a lot more than three thousand bucks, chief. I'll find him for three, but I'll catch him, and kill him, for ten. But you've gotta make up your minds. If you want to stay alive, then ante up. If you want to play it cheap, be on welfare the whole winter. I don't want no volunteers, I don't want no mates, there's just too many captains on this island. $10,000 for me by myself. For that you get the head, the tail, the whole damn thing. "

THE CORPSE FLOWER

Is this weird or what...

Thousands of people are flocking to the northern Swiss city of Basel to see a giant, stinky flower bloom for the first time.
The amorphophallus titanum - known as corpse flower because it exudes a smell of rotting flesh - is the first to blossom in Switzerland in 75 years.
The bloom is set to wilt late Saturday or Sunday.
(The paths of glory lead but to the grave... for plants, too)

Back From the Jungle

As you are aware, my lovely bride and I spent a relaxing 4 days in Mexico. To me, relaxing meant being over-sunned, over-rested and over-served. I did manage to accomplish this for most of the days. More on this later. However, Danielle and Jill managed to book an excursion to the ancient Mayan Ruins in Tulum. The Ruins were pretty cool and the beach was awesome. So I applaud the activity.

What I failed to comprehend is that our trip was an X-Treme adventure. What does this mean? Well it is best described in pictures. We start out doing some repelling down a 50 foot hole. Now mind you, I am all for adventure and can "Man UP" for anything. But let me tell you this, standing on a perfectly good platform with a stairway to the bottow, does not lend itself to leaning out backwards over an edge leaning just on your tip-toes and holding a rope. The worst part was waiting your turn. All kinds of thoughts run through your mind. I will say that after I got over the edge, it was quite a rush lowering yourself down the chasm. I even managed a smile.

The second part of the extreme adventure was a series of zip lines across the jungle tree tops. There was almost 2000ft of zip line with varying tower heights upwards of 75 feet. Now we had learned our lesson on the repelling portion and made sure we were the first to go. Overall it was pretty cool and as long as you don't think about it, it is quite the rush. Notice how much fun Danielle was having ;>

The final part of the trip was actually very cool. We went Snorkeling in a Cenote. Which is quite simply an underground river that gets exposed through a sinkhole. The water was fresh and a bit chilly, but there rock formations were crystaline and impressive. There were even several fresh water fish in the area. If you had scuba gear, they have excursions to take you from one Cenote to the next following the underwater caverns. That would be pretty cool, but also pretty dark. The snorkel adventure was a nice way to cool off after all of the other activities. Overall it was a very cool experience, that I might never do again ;> Let me tell you this, when we got back to the hotel at 3:30pm, we were more than ready for mucho cerveza por favor.

Thats all the time I have.
Thanks, you've been great. TTS
